#RPGaDay 2016: Real Dice?

…change – we’ll see.) Anyway, here is the first question and my answer. Real dice, dice app, diceless, how do you prefer to ‚roll‘? Real dice, usual d6 (6-sided dice) and sometimes lots of them. Hey, ever fought a Tunnels & Trolls Troll? No special tools or tricks required. Any other resolution system with cards (e. g. Castle Falkenstein) or without any randomizer (e. g. Amber) are at best interesting. I like to roll classic d6…. Weiterlesen

ZWEIHÄNDER Grim & Perilous RPG: An Interview with Daniel Fox

…n of dark fantasy roleplaying and his current Kickstarter. Back in the days we were young and we did’nt like the ‚counter intuitive‘ rules of (A)D&D. So we started roleplaying with Ken St. Andre’s Tunnels & Trolls – lots of monty haul adventuring in the early 80s! Countless monsters died and gave us their precious treasures. After a while we were looking for something different, more challenging and beyond… Weiterlesen

Happy Birthday, Gary Gygax!

…änomenale Hobby. Ich kenne kein richtiges oder falsches Rollenspiel. Für mich gibt es lediglich Spielarten, die (zu mir) passen – oder eben nicht. “What a great idea, and what a lousy execution!” – Ken St. Andre (Tunnels & Trolls) about D&D Ken St. Andre mag zwar in meinen Augen recht behalten, aber dennoch bleibt die Formel recht einfach: Ohne D&D – kein modernes Rollenspiel! Gibt es einen fantastischeren… Weiterlesen

#RPGaDay2015 – Favourite RPG Setting? Homebrew Campaign Settings

…le and recombine „compatible“ background elements. For example, a (non-player) character like Thieves World’s One-Thumb is excellent to pimp up Warhammer’s Old World. Both idea suppliers spiced up our Tunnels & Trolls campaign a lot. For one of our Vampire: The Masquerade (The Onyx Path) campaigns we included some Pendragon/King Arthur legends. We never uncovered the secrets of Morgan le Fay. This lady kept us busy… Weiterlesen

#RPGaDay2015 – Longest game session played? T&T, Cyberpunk 2013 & others ~ 16 hours

…hool – … I think you get it. On weekends we played even more. At peak times 16 hours with a few(!) breaks were not a problem. Back in the ’80s roleplaying was the thing! As mentioned before, we played a lot Tunnels & Trolls (T&T, Flying Buffalo). Other systems were a marginal phenomenon for us. We pillaged them for adventures and ideas. In the late ’80 and early ’90 Cyberpunk 2013 (R. Talsorian Games) became… Weiterlesen

More Apocalypse / Dungeon World via Kickstarter

…rst-Ansatz (aus DW) klar gegenüber z. B. Fate Core oder dem „schnellen Spaß (?)“ von Savage Worlds . Letztgenanntes Fast! Furious! Fun!!!-Rollenspiel empfinde ich nicht als sonderlich zügig (z. B. im Vergleich zu Tunnels & Trolls) und zu dem „Meta-Rollenspiel“ Fate finde ich seinerseits keinen richtigen Zugang – lediglich schöne Settings (Nova Praxis, Tianxia (Wuxia!)). Fiasko ist okay, mir aber zu… Weiterlesen

Stop! Old School Roleplaying – Dungeon Crawl: Brainstorm

…begutachten konnte. Weiterlesen

Persönlicher Rollenspiel-Blogroll Juni 2014

…u sehen, was eingefleischte Mainstream-Fans umtreibt. Weiterlesen

Open Design/Kobold Press: An interview with Kobold-in-Chief Wolfgang Baur

…s what I am looking for – something independent or original. I played nearly all original incarnations of Dungeons & Dragons and visited a lot of the official worlds, but I always preferred rules-light systems like Tunnels & Trolls or the original Cyberpunk (2013). I criticize the still popular wave of D&D clones like Pathfinder, Dungeon Crawl Classics or Swords & Wizardry. For my tastes they are too close to the original… Weiterlesen

13th Age – My D & D Next: An interview with Rob Heinsoo, Jonathan Tweet and Lee Moyer

…3th Age: Dragon Empire Map I first started meeting gamers whom I hadn’t taught when we moved to Oregon a couple years later. I played most of the early games — my favorites as a kid were probably Bunnies & Burrows, Tunnels & Trolls, Melee/Wizard, Lou Zocchi’s Knights of the Round Table and McEwan Miniatures’ Star Guard, a sci-fi miniatures game. In high school I got involved with the Alarums & Excursions fanzine put out by Lee… Weiterlesen
