#RPGaDay 2017 – August 31: More time and open-minded, interested friends to try different #RPG

…y one- or few-shots. Modern TV shows like True Detective are a huge inspiration for manageable stories. August 15: Which RPG do you enjoy adapting the most? In my experience, no system works as designed. Back in the day, our Tunnels & Trolls was a collection of our adapations. Today, I prefer ad hoc rulings over hard rules changes, but in the end it is plain and simple – BRP (e. g. Call of Cthulhu / Coc) and PbtA (tremulus, Dungeon… Weiterlesen

…for many years. Most recently my favourite character was a 10th lvl Babarian (D&D 4e). #9 Favourite Dice / Dice Set I always prefer d6 – nothing special. As a kid I pillaged my old games. Ever rolled 100d6 for a Troll? #10 Favourite tie-in Novel / Game Fiction A friend said Godwalker (by Greg Stolze, Unknown Armies) followed by the Delta Green books are his favourites. …communication. Roleplaying changed our lives! „… I now realize that Dungeons & Dragons evolved from Miniatures play, and makes perfect sense when thought of as a kind of variant of tactical miniature gaming. Tunnels and Trolls did not evolve from that. It came from by desire to play through heroic fantasy adventures in a storytelling fashion. I still think T & T is more about storytelling and less about tactical wargaming…. Weiterlesen

…F Chapman). #RPGaDAY2015 – 20th day, 17th question: Favourite Fantasy RPG? I cheated a bit. Tunnels & Trolls (Flying Buffalo) is my all time favourite. This game is unrivalled. …influenced me the most. It’s not the typical list of the best or favorite roleplaying games, instead I talk about inspiration and personal „game changers“. Overlaps with my hot list seem inevitable, though. Tunnels & Trolls (Flying Buffalo) A lesson about creativity, free thinking and social proof. In the early days nearly everybody played D&D. Many of them looked down on us. Today, compare the task resolution of both… Weiterlesen

#RPGaDay2015 – Favourite RPG Accessory? Dice & Magazines

#RPGaDAY2015 (Image: Autocratik) Autocratik (David F Chapman). #RPGaDAY2015 – 16th day, but for me the 14th question: Favourite RPG Accessory? I like standard 6-sided dice. I prefer d6-based systems like Tunnels & Trolls (Flying Buffalo), West End Games d6 system or Apocalypse World (Vincent Baker). I do not any wild polyhedrals. I really miss good hobby magazines like the late Zauberzeit (German, Laurin Verlag), the Arcane Magazine… Weiterlesen
