Autocratik (David F Chapman). #RPGaDAY2015 – 45th day, 27th question:

Favourite idea for merging two games into one?

I had no idea initially. Now, I think a mash-up of the L5R (Alderac Entertainment Group/Fantasy Flight Games) and/or Qin RPG (Cubicle 7) with the Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA, Apocalypse World, etc.) engine offers some interesting opportunities.

Fantasy Flight Games has acquired the rights for Legend of the 5 Rings recently. I doubt that this is a positive development for the line. FFG has a really good hand to waste lines like Tannhäuser, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 3rd Edition, Mutant Chronicles and Battlelore is in my opinion also as good as dead. What happened to the W40k RPGs? I think it’s a good time to say goodbye to L5R after the upcoming Atlas to Rokugan. By the way: FFG just killed the Call of Cthulhu LCG. What’s next?

We started to explore the excellent historical By Fire and Sword (Wargamer Company) tabletop and we really like it. I’m thrilled by the rich historical background of the 17thcentury wars fought by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth against Turkey, Muscovy, Sweden, Crimean Khanate and Cossacks. I have no clue which roleplaying system I would use, but I like the idea of a By Fire and Sword RPG. In my opinion it would be a very special game, but honestly this strenuous more of the same old approach is usually nothing for me. How many D&D clones or editions do we need?
