Autocratik (David F Chapman). #RPGaDAY2015 – 8th day and question:

Favourite Appearance of RPGs in the Media?

Strange question and hard to answer for me. If I have to choose, then it’s the movie adaption of the Crying Freeman comics by Christophe Gans (also Brotherhood of the Wolf).

Approximately 20 years ago, 1995, Frankfurt, Fantasy Filmfest – we watched this stylish and mystical action movie which is based on Kazuo Koike’s (Lone Wolf & Cub!) and Ryoichi Ikegami’s excellent Japanese ‚organised crime‘ manga. In one scene some actor said something like: „Next thing, we’ll be playing Dungeons and Dragons.“
I was really surprised and I still ask myself, how many people noticed it and knew more about D&D and the hobby.

Honourable mention: E.T.  – Yes, the Extra-Terrestrial. (O, thank you for the reminder.)
