Das Hard-Sci-Fi-Rollenspiel soll auf der kommenden 7. Edition von Call of Cthulhu von Chaosium basieren, die es noch gar nicht richtig gibt. Geplant sind zwei Regelbücher, ein Investigator’s Guide und ein Keeper’s Guide

WHAT IS CTHULHU: STRANGE AEONS?

Cthulhu: Strange Aeonsis set in the 22nd century. The setting posits what one potential future might look like, including its technology, society, and culture, by extrapolating “bleeding-edge” research and speculation ripped from today’s headlines. We are committed to keeping the science plausible and plan to stick to the truly monstrous and alien entities of the Mythos by drawing inspiration from films such as Event Horizon, Alien, and Predator, along with the original works of H.P. Lovecraft and others.

We have assembled some of the best writers of not only the venerable Call of Cthulhu game but the entire RPG industry. Insane scribes including Scott Glancy, Rob Schwalb, Oscar Rios, Jeffrey Moeller, and Sean Molley will bring this game to life. Der namhaften Autoren und Teammitglieder zum Trotz stehe ich dem Projekt eher kritisch gegenüber. 60K$ ist ziemlich viel Geld für ein initiales Projektziel einer Rollenspielschwarmfinanzierung. Des Weiteren sind meine persönlichen Erfahrungen auf Grund von unvollständigen und beschädigten Lieferungen (u. a. Witch Hunter 2nd Edition) getrübt. Zusätzlich soll das erst nach der Crowdfunding-Finanzierung abgerechnete Shipping bei ungefähr $40 liegen.

Lange Rede, kurzes Sinn: Ich bin raus – zumal es bereits The Void von Wildfire (Cthulhutech) gibt.

Es kommt noch besser, denn parallel gibt es eine Kickstarter-Kampagne von Uncle Mike’s Worldwide mit dem Titel Strange Aeons: Cthulhu/Lovecraft Miniature Skirmish Game.
Dabei handelt es sich um die 2nd Edition eines Skirmish Tabletops, das sich seinerseits aus den Werken von H. P. Lovercraft bedient. Die erforderlichen CAD $10,000 sind längst gesammelt.

Strange Aeons is a thrilling miniature skirmish game set in the 1920s and populated with the weird denizens of the works of H.P. Lovecraft.
